Funke Akindele’s movie ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ grosses £80,000 at UK cinemas

Funke Akindele’s latest movie, ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ leaves its mark on UK cinemas by grossing an impressive £80,000.

FilmOne Entertainment, Nigeria’s official distributor, reported the earnings from five cinema locations in the United Kingdom over the course of four weeks.

As of February 1, 2024, the Cinemas Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) reported that A Tribe Called Judah grossed ₦1,384,315,042 in Nigeria. The movie, which spent almost seven weeks at the top of the Nigerian cinema box office chart, lost its number-one spot to The Beekeeper last week.

 

In the story ‘A Tribe Called Judah’, five brothers—Jide Kene Achufusi as Emeka Judah, Timini Egbuson as Pere Judah, Uzee Usman as Adamu Judah, Tobi Makinde as Shina Judah, and Olumide Oworu as Ejiro Judah—must band together to plunder a business in order to save their mother, Jedidah Judah, portrayed by Akindele.

The cast includes Ebelle Okaro, Uzor Arukwe, Nse Ikpe Etim, Genoveva Umeh, Faithia Williams, Nosa Rex, Greg Ojefua, Ibrahim Yekini, Boma Akpore, Paschaline Ijeoma Alex, Etinosa Idemudia, Juliana Olayode, and Yvonne Jegede.

Since its premiere on December 15, 2023, the film has been viewed in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and nine French-speaking countries.
