The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 elections, Omoyele Sowore, has said that he would turn down President Bola Tinubu if he were called to join his administration.
He opined that the presidency does not have the capability to accommodate his ideas.
The political activist stated this while responding to whether he could join the administration to exercise his patriotism
Speaking in a Mic On interview, a podcast by Seun Okinbaloye, Sowore argued that Tinubu’s administration lacks the capability to see the greatness in Nigeria.
He said: “We have nothing in common. I know in advance that they don’t have the bandwidth to accommodate our ideas. They are very limited in their ability to see what we have seen and how we see the greatness of Nigeria.
“In joining them, you’re only fulfilling the time-tested lie that if you can’t beat them, you join them. We don’t belong in that category at all.”
When asked what would be his response if the government ask for his assistance in finding a solution to the country’s problems, he replied, “I am not going to help those who are not here to help Nigerians. If they were here to help Nigerians, they would not have plunged them into the multi-dimensional poverty they did the first day they came into power by removing subsidies.
“They wouldn’t have done it by floating the naira. You can’t do it by awarding a contract that is very hidden and not transparent for N15 trillion to a friend of the president.”

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has debunked speculations that the football body is talking with former Ivory Coast national team coach, Herve Renard to fill the vacant Super Eagles coaching job.
Herve Renard is the first foreign coach to win the Africa Cup of Nations with two different countries – first with Zambia in 2012, and then with Ivory Coast in 2015.
He is currently the head coach of the France women’s national team but he had said he would step down from the role at the end of the Paris Olympics this summer.
This means that Renard will be available for the vacant Super Eagles of Nigeria coaching job if the NFF decides to go for him. Note that the position has been vacant since earlier this month when coach Finidi George decided to resign from the role.
Finidi George who was appointed the Super Eagles head coach in April decided to leave the job two months later following a draw with South Africa and a defeat to Benin Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Reports claimed that the coach felt disregarded when the NFF announced plans to appoint a foreign technical adviser without carrying him along.
Amid that, Herve Renard was consistently linked with the Super Eagles coaching job, a speculation a top NFF official had claimed to be false.
“This report is inaccurate. We’ve not contacted Renard or his reps,” the unnamed NFF top official told BBC Africa.

The Sokoto state government has asked Vice President Kashim Shettima to always cross check facts before commenting on sensitive national matters.
Responding to the warning publicly made by the Vice President at the Northwest Security summit in Katsina on Monday, the state government said the Vice President should have contacted Governor Ahmed Aliyu to verify the news which made rounds on the purported plan to depose Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar before going public.
In a statement signed by the spokesman of Governor Aliyu, Abubakar Bawa, the government urged the Vice President to always have full knowledge of issues of national concern before commenting on them.
“We sincerely expected the Vice President to have consulted the Governor before going public.
“As an elder statesman and a father to all he should have facts and figures before judging on issues raised by mischief makers and the mushroom social media handlers known for negative propaganda.
“The fact of the matter is that there was never any attempt to sack the Sultan nor have we sent him any threat regarding that.
“Sultan enjoys all the powers he is entitled to. We never denied him any of his freedom or rights .
“We therefore do not need to be told to guard, protect, and promote the Sultan. It is our sole responsibility.
“The government and People of Sokoto cherish and adore the sultanate council and would do everything possible to protect the dignity of the revered institution. The Government to this end reassures all Nigerians that, it will continue to protect the sultanate council and its dignity at all times,” the statement read.

Layi Wasabi says one of his uncles once drove from Ibadan in Oyo to flog him in Osogbo, Osun for failing an exam.
In a recent chat on 90s Baby Show, the Nigerian skitmaker said his mother had wanted him to study science-related courses in school.
The content creator said his mum was disappointed that he failed Physics, a subject which was required to study science.
Wasabi added that his mother informed one of his uncles, who then drove from Ibadan to deal him whips of the cane in Osogbo.
“And I had stronger subjects in the art department. So it was recommended that I do art. So my mum was upset I was not taking school seriously,” he said.
“She called one of my uncles, he said ‘Do not worry I will be in Osogbo tomorrow’.
“I was the one who opened the gate for him and assisted him in carrying his load from his car. I knew what he came for.
“And he sat down, drank water, and said ‘Bring your report card’. He went through all the courses and said, ‘You failed physics, you did not do well in mathematics. Lie down there.’ And I knew what my fate was then. It was crazy.”
Layi started his comedy career as a teenager.
Wasabi is known for blending societal issues in Nigeria and everyday challenges into content.

The Ogun State Police Command has said a pregnant woman, Rahemat Lateef, who claimed to have been abducted by some unknown gunmen while going to the state hospital at Ijaiye, Abeokuta for child delivery, faked the kidnap.
The state police command, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this on her X handle.
Odutola said the woman faked the kidnapping after she discovered she had suffered another miscarriage to avoid the wrath of her husband who was naturally expecting her to be put to bed.
According to the police, Rahemat, who had suffered repeated miscarriages, travelled to Kwara State but later returned to Abeokuta with her father.
Odutola while giving updates on the incident said, “Rahemat Lateef who the husband reported abducted, was never abducted, but planned her journey to Kwara State, to escape the wrath of her husband, because she has remained unlucky due to miscarriages.
“She is under medical attention, safe,” she added.
Last week Rahemat’s husband, Ogunbunmi Lateef, said he received a WhatsApp message, informing him of his wife’s kidnap.
The Police Spokesman, Omolola Odutola, in a statement had confirmed the incident but refused to give more details on the incident.
“One Ogunbunmi Lateef of Oke Lantoro reported that his pregnant wife due for delivery left home for State Hospital Ijaiye Abeokuta.
“He received a WhatsApp message confirming the abduction of his wife by unknown armed men,” Odutola said.
Veteran Nollywood actor, Anayo Modestus Onyekwere, popularly known as Kanayo O. Kanayo, has spoken out against wealthy Nigerian men who fund lavish lifestyles of actresses in the entertainment industry.
In a recent episode of “The Honest Bunch” podcast, Kanayo said such financial support creates an unfair perception that male actors are not working hard.
According to him, this also creates financial disparities and jeopardises the careers of their male counterparts.
“Many Nigerian rich men patronize our women and give them benefits that make us look like we are not working hard. Nigerian rich men spend money on our girls to the extent that it impoverishes us and makes it look like we don’t work hard,” he said.
Kanayo elaborated on the disparity: “You call a girl, she says she wants to do a production, she’s your girlfriend from whatever benefits she gives you. How much is she asking for this production, N150m, N100m? but me wey be KOK, go and work hard my friend, we’re all men.”
He pointed out that male actors often face financial difficulties without the same support: “It’s not a good situation. Have you seen any lady ask for financial help for medical expenses? No, it’s only the men. We are an endangered species.
“Many girls are desperate to act, telling a man ‘do with me whatever you want.’ When you offer a man and say, ‘Oga give me that role, I will come to your hotel,’ what is this, I am not a child. What do you expect?” he queried.
The veteran actor said it’s now a trend for actresses to undergo cosmetic surgery to fit into the industry.
“You go do BBL, you have it and puff it up. Most of the girls are coming to Nollywood to learn how to act. You don’t come to Nollywood to learn how to act; you come to Nollywood to exploit your trade and make it better. Acting is in you, if it’s not in you, go and sell crayfish,” he added.
Kanayo further spoke on lack of unity within the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN). He lamented that many actors who have achieved stardom fail to participate in guild activities.
“People who hit stardom say, ‘I have no business with this.’ There needs to be a clarion call for everybody to know that we are better off being under a guild, We are better of being under an association, protecting our general interest.
“But when you have people who do not have that kind of feeling it becomes bad. So, it’s a work in progress, its the continuum to call on the actress and AGN president, which is the executive to keep on working to bring in actors together and for actors to know, not just when we go for burial hours, not when we have candle nights. Teamwork makes the (dream work). We need to work as a team and we will have more respect if we work as an association,” he said.
The actor also advocated for a collective effort to support the welfare of actors, and emphasised the need for contributions to a health fund.
He said, “If I earn N1m per movie, what is one percent of it? N10,000. Why wouldn’t you pay N10,000 to a fund used to take care of those who are sick? Many people have refused to be part of the association to build something from their earnings, and that’s why you see actors coming to social media to ask for help.”
Talented Nollywood actress cum movie producer, Funke Akindele, has dismissed rumours of a rift with her colleague, Eniola Badmus and other stars in the film industry.
Naija News recalls that Eniola and Funke were very close before the 2023 election and had often shown off their beautiful vacation and fun moments online.
However, in recent times, the duo were rarely seen together or commenting on their social media posts.
In an interview with Arise TV, Funke when asked about her friendship with Eniola Badmus said, “Eniola Badmus cracks me up so much. I love to chill with her. But, we have been so busy with life. Everybody is doing their thing.”
While giving insight into her approach to maintaining friendships in the entertainment industry, the thespian said she has never had serious friends aside from her siblings.
She said, “I think my siblings are my friends. I have people that I’m cordial with, but not serious friendships like that. Because I am always busy with work. And when I am not working, I will be sleeping, watching a movie, chilling with the kids and family.
“I like being in my space. I don’t like going to parties. I run a studio, we film every year and we have movies at cinemas and on streaming platforms including content on Youtube. I’m very busy. So I just get busy with work and my children.
“I have cordial relationships with all my colleagues in the industry. But I love working with some particular people.”

AFOLABIPopular South African film director, Nkosi Nathi, has expressed frustration after a DNA test revealed that he is not the biological father of his wife’s newborn daughter.
The filmmaker shared his ordeal in a post via his Instagram page on Monday, stating that the incident had left him traumatized.
