Dangote, Akpabio, Eight Govs In Lagos As Saraki Buries Mother

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki laid his mother, Chief Mrs. Florence Morenike Saraki, to rest on Friday in a ceremony attended by numerous dignitaries at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos, followed by a reception at Eko Hotels and Suites.

Mrs. Saraki, the matriarch of the Saraki family, passed away at the age of 88 on June 18, 2024.

Among the prominent attendees were Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Also in attendance were governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Caleb Muftwang (Plateau), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Duoye Diri (Bayelsa).

The event was also graced by top politicians, captains of industry, and other dignitaries, reflecting the widespread respect and admiration for the Saraki family.

Mrs. Florence Saraki, known for her philanthropic activities and contributions to her community, was remembered fondly by many who attended the service.

Naija News recalls that Saraki confirmed the demise of his mother in a statement via his X handle, noting that details of the funeral will be shared in due course.

The statement read, “With profound sadness and total submission to the will of Almighty God, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch, Chief Mrs. Florence Morenike Saraki, who peacefully transitioned today, Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

“Details regarding funeral arrangements will be shared in due course. We appreciate your love, prayers, and support as we mourn Mama’s passing.”
