The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerians against the use of PrimeZen Black 6000mg, a male performance enhancement capsule, recalled from the market.

The agency’s recall is contained in a public alert with No. 015/2023, signed by its Director-General, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, and issued to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, on Sunday.

Adeyeye said that Volt Candy is voluntarily recalling the one lot of PrimeZen Black 6000mg capsule alongside its 2000mg, due to undeclared ingredients they were made of by their manufacturer in America.

“The recall followed the analysis of Food and Drug Agency (FDA) of the United States of America, an FDA, which found the PrimeZen capsules to contain undeclared tadalafil and sildenafil.

“Sildenafil and tadalafil are phosphodiesterase (PDE-5) inhibitors found in FDA-approved products for the treatment of male erectile dysfunction.

“The presence of sildenafil and tadalafil in PrimeZen Black 6000mg capsules renders them unapproved drugs for which safety and efficacy have not been established and, therefore, subject to recall.

“Risk Statement, PrimeZen Black 6000 capsules containing sildenafil and tadalafil may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs (such as nitroglycerin) and may cause a significant drop in blood pressure that may be life-threatening.

“People with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates.

“Among the adult male population who are most likely to use these products, adult males who use nitrates for cardiac conditions are most at risk from these products,” she said.

According to her, “The product details are as follows; PrimeZEN Black 6000 male enhancement capsules, manufactured by Volt Candy, 324 S. Diamond Bar Blvd #212, USA.”

The NAFDAC boss said that the lot Number: NPINPB 1003, UPC code: 728175521891, expiration date is Aug. 16, 2025, for PrimeZen Black 6000mg being marketed online as a dietary supplement for male enhancement and is packaged in a blister card with one capsule.

Adeyeye added that the product can be identified by the card color in black with the name on it PrimeZen Black 6000.

“NAFDAC hereby implores members of the public in possession of the above product to stop the sale or use, as well as handover the product to the nearest agency office,” she said.

The DG appealed to those who have the falsified product, to “please DO NOT use it.”

“If you, or someone you know, have used the product, or suffered any adverse reaction after use, please seek immediate medical advice,” she advised.

She also advised healthcare professionals and consumers to report any suspicion of adverse drug reactions, or substandard and falsified medicines to the nearest NAFDAC office.

Adeyeye said that the public was also advised to report any adverse reactions of the product to NAFDAC on 0800-162-3322 or via email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The DG also encouraged healthcare professionals and patients to report adverse events or side effects related to the use of medicinal products through the use of the E-reporting platforms available on the NAFDAC website “http://www.nafdac.gov.ng/”.

A former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani has asked the President-elect, Bola Tinubu to probe the outgoing government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News reports that the nation’s debt profile is about N77 trillion if the N23 trillion loans from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) are securitised.

This has led to concerns amongst the citizenry, considering that the president is currently pushing for an $800 million loan from the World Bank a few weeks before the end of its tenure.

Some of the loans obtained by the Buhari government were reportedly used to construct roads, bridges, and other infrastructure across the nation.

But, Sani said the first step in servicing the nation’s debt is to conduct a full investigation of the cost of the projects they were purportedly used for.

Speaking via Twitter, the politician urged the incoming administration to probe all federal ministries, departments, and agencies under the Buhari regime.

He said, “The first step towards servicing our billions of dollars of local and foreign debt is a full investigation of the cost of the projects they were purportedly used for.

“The incoming government must probe all the MDAs under this regime.”

Famous Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, on Monday morning, broke the Guinness World Record for ‘longest cooking time’ by an individual.

Naija News reports that Hilda, 27, broke the record after she surpassed Indian chef Lata Tandon, who set a Guinness World Record for cooking for 87 hours and 45 minutes non-stop in 2019 to become the new “Guinness World Record” holder.

The Akwa Ibom-born chef shattered the record on Monday, May 15, at 7:45 am

Recall that she started cooking on the 11th of May and intends to cook for 96 hours to set a new record.

The project, tagged “Cook-a-thon,” gained the support of many Nigerians, including politicians and celebrities.

The Vice president of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, and Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel, had on Sunday called her on the phone to encourage her to persevere and not give up.

Similarly, the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, visited Hilda at the cooking venue to encourage her.

Presidential candidates Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar also cheered the record-breaking chef on Twitter.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George has said that he holds no grudges towards the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Naija News reports that the elder statesman has been quite critical of the former Governor of Lagos State and once said that he would leave the country if the politician becomes president.

However, after meeting with some APC elders in Lagos State who urged him to support and collaborate with Tinubu as he assumes office on May 29, the PDP chieftain stated that he has nothing personal against the President-elect.

The outcome of the meeting to reconcile George and Tinubu was brokered by a former judge of the Lagos State High Court, Justice Ishola Olorunnimbe (retd).

The meeting, which dragged late into the night on Saturday, had in attendance leader of the Governance Advisory Council, GAC, the apex leadership of the party in Lagos State, Prince Tajudeen Olusi; the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire; former Deputy Governors of Lagos State, Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele and Prince Abiodun Ogunleye amongst others.

Speaking after the meeting, Chief George commended the elders for the peace parley adding that it is a positive step towards a new Lagos.

His words: “Let me say there is no political differences. Justice Olorunnimbe is like a father, we respect our fathers in Lagos. When I got an invitation from Papa Olusi that he wanted to come and see me the first time, I told my friend who delivered the message that I should go and visit him and not the other way round. But Papa Olusi said said he had to come and see and that it had to do with the situation in Lagos.

“This is the second time Papa Olusi is visiting. We had detailed discussions that bothered on the unity of Lagos. I must say we re-established the fact that the culture of Lagos is to accept and accommodate other tribes.

“Secondly, on the details of us working together, because a divided house will be a defeated house, I have explained to Baba Olusi that there is no problem about working together. The kind of platform we are trying to have is for a unity of purpose in Lagos State, irrespective of party affiliations.

“On the bottom line, you are a Lagosian though we can different political affiliations.

Now, they came for three things: they talked about the running battle I had with Tinubu and I have said I absolutely have no battle, nothing personal between him and I.

“What had happened has gone, vengeance is not mine but the almighty God. We will have differences, we will disagree but we must not be disagreeable.

“They made a request which we are all looking at. They requested that someday we should also congratulate Asiwaju and we said yes, but that I belong to a political party. They are all in the courts now. Let us finish the court cases. Whichever way that goes, the issue of congratulating him or not will come to fruition. I have nothing personal and nothing happens without the almighty God. As a believer, that is my school of thought.

“This union and discussion we have had is a positive step towards a new Lagos.”

President-elect, Bola Tinubu’s spokesman in the south east during the campaigns, Dr. Josef Onoh, has urged the Department for State Security (DSS) to ensure that the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN), Dr. Godwin Emefiele does not leave Nigeria for any study leave abroad.

Naija News recalls that there have been allegations that the CBN governor is planning to leave Nigeria under the guise of a study leave so as to flee the country before inauguration of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu on May 29.

Those making the allegations are claiming that Tinubu might pay back Emefiele for trying to hurt his campaign with the naira redesign policy.

However, Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu stated that the presidency was not privy to the CBN governor leaving the country on a study leave and would make no further comments on the matter.

Reacting to the rumors, Onoh insisted that irrespective of the truth to the claims, the DSS must stop Emefiele from leaving the country at all cost.

Onoh said: “I’m telling the DSS that whether the study leave is true or not, it should ensure that Emefiele does not leave Nigeria. If Emefiele wants to get a study leave, we have credible universities in Nigeria that are willing to grant him admission where he can do his study leave and these universities are ready to comply with CBN regulations regarding money transfers and payment modes to the institution of his choice in order for him to process his admission and they also accept the new redesigned naira notes as form of payment for admissions fees too.”

A video of Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat maestro, Fela Kuti, boasting of slapping policemen is trending.

Although it is unclear when the recording was made, Seun was seen saying that he had slapped many policemen because of who he is.

“Some of una police go slap una, una go come Instagram to explain. You know how many police I don tear slap?” he asked in pidgin.

“They say because you be Fela pikin. You no know say na because Jesus be God pikin e fit die for you? You must know who you are before you make your move. So, I make my move because I know who I am…,”

Reacting to the development via Instastory on Saturday night, the musician said the officer attempted to kill him and his family members.

He also claimed that the policeman had apologized and he had forgiven him.

Kuti said: “He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologized and I have agreed not to press charges. Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job.”

On the order to arrest him, the singer said he welcomed the investigation.

“I welcome the investigation and will give my full cooperation! I also pray to the IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted,” he wrote.

The development comes weeks after music star, Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable was arrested for harassing some policemen.

Portable was detained at police headquarters in Ogun state, subsequently arraigned at a magistrate’s court in Ifo Local Government Area where he was sent to Ilaro Prison pending the fulfillment of his bail condition.

Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai, weekend, said that before his appointment as COAS, Nigerians were already feeling a sense of defeat psychologically by Boko Haram terrorists because their powerful propaganda machinery had demoralised Nigerians.

Buratai spoke at the unveiling of three books authored by Mallam Jibrin Ndace, a veteran defence correspondent in Abuja, namely “Walking the War Front with Lt. Gen. TY Buratai,” “Duty Call Under Buratai’s Command” and “The Lonely Grave and Other Poems.”

He said: “With the bombings at United Nations House, the bombing of the Police headquarters, the bombing of the Nyanya Motor park, the bombing of Abacha barracks market and the propaganda, Nigerians became afraid and began to feel a sense of defeat psychologically.

“On assumption of office as COAS and to change this narrative, I had to bring in (embed) journalists while confronting the insurgency. We began what we called information operations. This helped a lot in our psychology operations in which Defence Correspondents played significant and patriotic roles.

“For the first time in Nigeria’s history, we had journalists in the forefront with us. Media operations something that is critical, which is called information operations or psychological operations in the Military.

“It was necessitated by the fact that Nigerians were feeling defeated unfortunately by the Boko Haram propaganda machine. When we came in, we had to defeat that spirit of fear of Boko Haram.

“The media operations was one of our strategies to ensure that this propaganda was eliminated from our minds hence we ensured the press went along with us to achieve this purpose”.

two eyes closed.

“There are those among us that might have done beyond the call of duty or underperformed and measures are taken to redress those. But the narrative of generalizing should not be so.”

He congratulated the author Jibrin Ndace because he is a highly committed individual, a core professional journalist, a patriotic Nigerian who has shown so much commitment in supporting the armed forces and other stakeholders that have made one contribution or the other in our counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency efforts.
