[VIDEO] Emefiele: Why we need to worry about journalistic integrity, says Reuben Abati

Reuben Abati, a veteran journalist, television anchor, and newspaper columnist, believes that we should be concerned about journalistic integrity.

He spoke on this recently on What's Trending on the Morning Show on Arise TV, following the Monday edition of the Nations Newspaper, with the headline, "Emefiele launches a fresh plot against President-elect Tinubu."

In his opinion, "ownership should not become a burden to the extent that journalistic ethics and standards are violated.

"This is not the first time that people are calling out the Nation; not too long ago, I think last week, the Nation did a story in which they accused former attorney general of the federation Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, of lying against him, whereas What he said about the statement he issued was that social media commentators and speculators were twisting what he said on Arise News. This is an issue about the standard of journalistic integrity, or journalistic integrity.

"For the editors of the Nation, maybe their desk editor, maybe their senior editors, but for the gatekeepers who keep committing this blunder one after the other. I refer them to My Odyssey: An Autobiography by Nnamdi Azikiwe."
