Newcastle have offered striker £128,000-a-week for January transfer

Newcastle United have made an offer to Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette to sign him in the January transfer window, according to TMW.

The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Newcastle have offered Lacazette a three-and-a-half contract.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) are willing to pay the Arsenal striker €8 million per season (£6.69 per season, £128,000 per week).

And Lacazette has responded.

According to TMW, the France international striker has turned down Newcastle.

Lacazette reportedly has no intention of joining Newcastle and risking relegation from the Premier League.

Alexandre Lacazette to Newcastle was always unlikely

In our view, Newcastle were always unlikely to be able to sign Lacazette from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The striker is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season and will become a free agent.

So, Lacazette will surely have a number of clubs interested in him on a free transfer.

After all, the 30-year-old is a very good striker who has done well for Arsenal in the Premier League.

Newcastle are in serious danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Lacazette was surely not going to leave an Arsenal team aiming to finish in the Premier League top four to move to a club who could end up getting relegated.
