JAMB's New Registration Rules for 2022 UTME, Other Major Headlines in Newspaper Review

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had announced a new registration process to tackle fraudulent activities of some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.

The exam board in its weekly news magazine, JAMBULLETIN published on Monday, November 29, revealed that it would be adopting a cashless policy. 

The federal government has directed the Nigeria Customs Service to ground 91 private jets belonging to some wealthy Nigerians over their alleged refusal to pay import duties running to over N30bn. 

As such, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col Hameed Ali, (retd.) following a directive from the presidency, has written a letter to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency asking the agencies to ground the affected private jets with immediate effect. 

Few days ago, Malam Mele Kyari, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), stirred heated reactions when he said Nigerians would pay between N320 and N340 per litre after the removal of petrol subsidy in 2022.

Though the minister of finance, budget and national planning, Zainab Ahmed, said the subsidy will be replaced with a N5000-a-month transportation grant to the poorest Nigerians, many Nigerians have rejected the government's plan. 

Few days ago, Nigerian Afro-pop star David Adeleke, aka Davido, announced that the N200 million he got from his friends and fans in an unprecedented social media fundraiser will be donated to orphanages across Nigeria. He noted that he will add N50 million to the money to be donated to the orphanages, making it N250 million.
