A police officer shot and killed his two children before turning the gun on himself. A woman was also seriously wounded during the “extremely serious shooting” in the Dutch city of Dordrecht.
Police said in a statement that a 35-year-old officer was killed and was also suspected of being the shooter.
The children were aged eight and 12 while the injured woman is 28 years old.
The dead have not been named but police spokesman Wim Hoonhout said ‘it seems like a family incident.’
A motive has not yet been established, reports metro.co.uk.
Emergency response teams were at the scene, a home in Dordrecht, near the port of Rotterdam and forensics teams were also present.
Dordrecht Mayor Wouter Kolff said on Twitter he was planning to visit the site of the “very serious shooting incident”.
