One killed, one raped as suspected Fulani Herdsmen attack Plateau University
 

Alleged Suspected herdsmen have reportedly attacked the female hostel of the Plateau State University (PLASU) Bokkos on Sunday rape a student and shot one student to dead.

New Telegraph gathered that the University has in the past suffer series of attacks by the Suspected herdsmen.
 

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor Plateau State University, Bokkos Professor Yohana Daniel Izam in a Press Statement signed by the Public Relations officer of the University and made available to Journalists in Jos confirmed the unfortunate attack on one of its female hostels by suspected hoodlums on Sunday night.

 

According to the Statement said the incident has also left a 100 level Student of Geography in the Institution dead after sustaining gunshot injuries.

“The Vice-Chancellor Professor Yohana Daniel Izam regrets the demise of the promising young man particularly after successful matriculation held at the University last week Friday.

 

“Professor Izam on behalf of the University Community and particularly Management of the Institution is deeply touched by this act of man’s inhumanity to man and sincerely extends the deepest sympathy of Management to the deceased parents and the entire University Community over this shocking development.

 

However, the Vice Chancellor has appealed for calm and cooperation especially among the students as the University’s Campus Security Committee in collaboration with the Special Task Force have since swung into action to review the situation with a view of identifying the perpetrators of the crime so that this ugly occurrence can be permanently nipped in the bud.

The students on their part are also calling on government and school management to put an end to the incessant attacks and harassment by the herdsmen on the students.

Some of the Students who spoke New Telegraph wouldn’t want their identity mention said the Institution is at high risk considering how the criminal acts are being carried out without arrest of the culprits.

 

The students said they are vulnerable as the area is extremely volatile leaving the students at the mercy of the attackers who always carry out their heinous acts and leaves before the arrival of the security personnel.
