Organised labour in Niger State has directed civil servants to embark on an indefinite strike from the midnight of Tuesday, December 1. The strike by the labour follows the failure of the State Government to pay the civil servants their full November 2020 salary.
A statement jointly signed by the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Yakubu Garba and his Trade Union Congress, TUC counterpart, Yunusa Tanimu said, the State Government proposal to cut the pay of local government workers is also not acceptable.
The statement adds that arrangements for the full payment of the October salaries of local government workers must be addressed.
It also said that the government should refund its civil servants the balance of their salaries that were slashed by percentage in June this year.
