The Senate has rejected a prayer by Senator Dino Melaye for the police to provide the full names of the 30,000 policemen said to have been deployed to Ekiti State for Saturday's governorship election.

Dino in a motion said the locations of the deployment and actual number of the policemen should be provided to the Senate, but majority of the senators rejected that prayer.

He said 30,000 policemen sent to Ekiti should not be allowed at a time hundreds of Nigerians are being killed on a daily basis.

However, the senators approved a prayer by Melaye that Nigerians, including him, should be provided with adequate security in view of the withdrawal of his security personnel.

He told his colleagues that his life has been in danger since the police action against him.
