Belgium forward, Eden Hazard has described his situation at Real Madrid as

Hazard played for 65 minutes in their 2-1 Nations League home win over Wales.

However, after the game, the midfielder admitted he needed more game time at Real Madrid before the 2022 World Cup.

Hazard has barely featured for Real this season after making only one start.

I was happy to start another match, Hazard told RTL.

You saw that, I think. I’m happy when I play and it was nice to play for the supporters here [in Brussels] again. Our first half was very good.

I know what I can do. Now I want to get in shape for the World Cup. We’ll see what the coach [Roberto Martinez] decides, but I’m happiest when I play.

When I play, I give it my all. It’s a delicate situation at Real Madrid. I feel like playing more, but I can’t do more.

I’ve always said the old Eden Hazard will come back when he plays. I just need to get back into the rhythm.

Olivier Giroud scored for France on Thursday night, as they beat Austria 2-1 in the Nations League.

The AC Milan striker converted Antoine Griezmann’s cross in the 65th minute.

It was Giroud’s 49th international goal for Les Bleus.

He is now two shy of Thierry Henry’s national record, while also becoming the oldest player to ever score for France.

Giroud, who set up the first goal for Kylian Mbappe, was replaced by Ousmane Dembele to the Stade de France crowd’s standing ovation.

Oliver deserves it, I am very happy for him. He had difficult periods with his club but always performed well with us.

If I call him, it’s so he can score goals. And he had many opportunities, coach Didier Deschamps said after the match.

AC Milan legend, Paolo Maldini has snubbed Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo while naming the three best players that he has seen play the game during his playing career.

Maldini named Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi, late Napoli legend, Diego Maradona and former Real Madrid striker Ronaldo Nazario as his top three footballers.

The former defender made the statement in an upcoming documentary on the Brazilian Ronaldo titled ‘The Phenomenon.’

The five-time UEFA Champions League winner spent a year and a half playing alongside Ronaldo at Milan and went up against him multiple times during the latter’s five-year stint with Inter Milan.

The 54-year-old played for one of the best teams of all time and faced some great footballers during a glorious career that spanned almost 25 years.

When asked to name the three best players that he has seen, Maldini said: “The three greatest players I saw during my career were Messi, Maradona and him [Ronaldo Nazario].

Three police officers kidnapped in Ogun

No fewer than three policemen were said to have been abducted in broad daylight by some unknown gunmen in Ogun State.

The police officers were abducted on Thursday at Wasinmi, in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The cops had visited Ogun State from Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State, for an investigation.

They were said to have been duly booked at the police division in Wasinmi before they left for their place of primary assignment.

A reliable source told our correspondent that the officers, led by Inspector Oladipo Olayemi,

It was gathered that the commercial driver, who conveyed the cops, escaped by a whisker from the kidnappers.

The Divisional Police Officer in Ewekoro had led his men in searching for the missing policemen.

Contacted, the Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, however, said that people were kidnapped, but only one policeman is involved.

Oyeyemi told our correspondent that the police are on the kidnappers’ trail, assuring the victims would be rescued.

He said, We are on the trail of the kidnappers. Do you think we are going to keep quiet? We will get them and rescue the victims unhurt.

He added that men of the anti-kidnapping unit are on the kidnappers’ trail.

The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday, met with some Christian clerics under the aegis of the Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria, saying his intention was to bring prosperity to the country.
Tinubu disclosed at the meeting with the clerics that his choice of a former governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima was not a threat to the Christian community.

He said that his decision was based on competence and not religious considerations, adding that only competence can resolve the political and socio-economic challenges bedevilling the nation.

The former Lagos State Governor said he had always been a friend of the Christian community and should be considered based on his track records, plans and agenda for developing Nigeria.

How will Nigeria develop? How do we banish hunger? How do we improve the insecurity, eliminate killing one another, and shedding the blood of innocent citizens? That is what we must take to the office and not our religion.

My intention is clear, not religiosity. My intention is to develop this country, to bring prosperity to our country, and I have better qualifications, track records, exposure, and vision than any of my mates.

He said. When the shortlisted names came, I looked at the characters on the list, their background and everything and here is somebody (Kassim Shetimma) who is so brilliant, so committed, who, during the crisis in Borno, protected Christians.

However, the bishops said the meeting was not an affirmation that they would endorse the APC’s candidate, adding that they were not committed to supporting anybody.

Female students in Katsina performed better than their male counterparts in the 2021 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Commissioner for Education, Prof. Badamasi Lawal, made this known at the closing ceremony of the Girl Education Project (GEP-III)  in Katsina.

The official attributed the performance to the commitment of the government to empower girls through educational programmes.

In 2021, 18,321 students sat for the WASSCE paid for by the state government; 10,441 were male, 7,880 were female.

The results showed 4,627 female students scored credit in English language – 58.7 per cent; 5,632 males scored credit – 54 per cent.

Lawal announced that in Mathematics, 5,678 girls scored credits, while 4,726 boys scored credits.

Overalls, the girls scored more credits in five subjects, including Mathematics and English Language.

At least 56 per cent of them got five credits as against 48 per cent of their male counterparts who passed in five subjects.

Socio-political activist, Reno Omokri has commended the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for meeting Northern Christian bishops.

Recalls that the former Lagos State governor, yesterday met with some Christian clerics under the aegis of the Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria.

At the meeting, Tinubu disclosed that his choice of a former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, was not a threat to the Christian community.

Reacting, Omokri, in a post on his social media pages, said though the move was commendable, it was too little.

According to him, the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling party may not go well for Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, in the 2023 presidential election.

He wrote, I commend Bola Tinubu’s inroads into the Northern Christian community by meeting with their bishops. But this is too little. Address your imbalanced ticket. Nigeria is too divided for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Christians refuse to be second-class citizens in Nigeria! Look at the situation with Buhari. The head of the Executive is a Muslim (Buhari). The head of the Legislature is a Muslim (Lawan). The head of the Judiciary is also a Muslim (Ariwoola).

The military and security services are overwhelmingly dominated by Muslims. How does Tinubu want us to go from that to a Muslim President and a Muslim Vice President? That is the height of injustice to the Body of Christ, and we will NEVER accept it!

Umar Sani, a former Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Vice President Namadi Sambo, has hit out at Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, for claiming that Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is copying the economic blueprint of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

Sani said that Mohammed’s statement was laughable, adding that he lacked ideas.

He disclosed this on Arise TV’s Morning Show.

Mohammed, while speaking with newsmen at the national press centre in Abuja, accused Atiku, who recently spoke his economic blueprint at an event in Lagos, of copying the present administration under Buhari.

According to Mohammed, no one apart from the Federal Government understands the blueprint of which Atiku claims ownership.

Sani said, It is very amusing and laughable for APC to talk or Lai Mohammed to talk about any economic blueprint. We are almost on the verge of the closure of the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari and how has our economy fared for us to continue to steal their own blueprint? First and foremost, every economic index that ought to have been broken and our economy is almost totally near collapse

Even recession is around the corner. Again Nigeria during the PDP was an investment destination. Now investors are running away from the country. Nigeria had the highest GDP. Everything economic in Nigeria was perfect during the PDP. The exchange rate was good, the micro and microeconomic were perfect, and yet somebody will begin to talk about stealing your blueprint. Which blueprint do you have that is unable to transform the economics of Nigeria, and that is plugging Nigeria into chaos?

I think they are lacking in ideas, they are lacking in thought, and so they want to blame PDP for everything. it is their usual tradition to blame PDP, and so using this one to say we stole their blueprint is just a mockery of the performance of their budget.
