La Liga action returns to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys as Barcelona hosts Real Betis at their temporary home in Catalonia.

Barcelona vs Real Betis Betting Tips: Home / Over 2.5

Barcelona vs Real Betis Betting Correct Score Tips: 3 - 1

Having begun the season with a frustrating 0:0 draw at Getafe, Barcelona have responded well with three successive La Liga victories against Cadiz, Villarreal and Osasuna.

Scoring at least two goals in all three wins, the Catalan attack is beginning to take shape, with breakthrough star Lamine Yamal impressive in the early stages of the campaign.

Now back at the less than familiar surroundings of the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, Barcelona will be looking for an 11th win in their last 13 “home” matches since January.

Betis cannot be underestimated, though, with the visitors making a decent start to the new campaign. Manuel Pellegrini´s side have picked up seven points (W2, D1) from a tough opening set of fixtures that included games against Bilbao, Villarreal and Atletico Madrid.

On their travels, Betis have been very much hot or miss in 2023. Los Verdiblancos have won seven and lost five of their last 14 away league matches over the past nine months.

In this fixture, Betis tends to struggle, having won just one of their last ten matches against the reigning champions since 2019. Barcelona have won eight of nine league games against the Verdiblancos during that period.

Goals are usually to be expected when these sides meet. Over 2.5 goals were scored in 10 of their last 11 league contests since 2018. Of those 10 games, eight also saw both teams hitting the target.

Ultimately, with Barcelona continuing to look somewhat vulnerable in defence following the departures of stalwarts Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets in the summer - The Catalans have conceded four in their last two matches - goals can probably be expected given the history of this fixture.

Still, Barcelona should get the win, so I´m backing Xavi´s men to pick up three points in a match where at least three goals can be expected.

Erik ten Hag’s sack as Manchester United manager has been predicted by Jose Enrique. The ex-Liverpool defender claims that the Red Devils boss will be sacked before his Chelsea counterpart, Mauricio Pochettino.

Ten Hag took charge at Old Trafford last summer and guided United to their first major trophy in six years. The Red Devils lifted the Carabao Cup during his first season.

The Dutchman also led United to the FA Cup final. He also helped the Old Trafford club back into the Premier League top four to qualify for this season’s Champions League.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has faced some early pressure this term. He has lost two of United’s opening four Premier League games to Tottenham and Arsenal respectively.

Things may end badly for Ten Hag at United according Jose Enrique

‘I don’t think things are going to end well for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United,’ Enrique told Grosvenor Sport.

The Liverpool legend had continued: ‘I loved the way he handled things last season. But with the Jadon Sancho situation this season, I don’t know why he did what he did in putting the whole dressing room against him.

‘I have a feeling that Ten Hag won’t be sacked this season. But in the future he will be sacked before the likes of Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea.

‘After a very good season last season I expected Manchester United to be in a much better position at the moment.

‘Obviously there have been other factors like the Jadon Sancho situation which Erik ten Hag spoke publicly about, as well as the Antony situation.’

United are back in Premier League action on Saturday when they host Brighton at Old Trafford.

Promotion rivals Southampton and Leicester come together at St Mary´s Stadium for a potentially vital Championship fixture this Friday.

Southampton vs Leicester Betting Tips - BTTS / Over 2.5

Sitting seventh and third in the Championship, both teams return to action after losing their most recent league contests a fortnight ago.

Hosts Southampton had enjoyed a great start to the season with three wins and a draw before suffering a shock 5:0 loss against Sunderland last time out. The Saints also saw BTTS and over 2.5 goals in both home matches played so far.

Leicester arrives on the south coast having slumped to a disappointing 1:0 home reversal against Hull prior to the recent international break. However, the Foxes had enjoyed an excellent six-game winning run prior to their recent setback against the Tigers.

On their travels, Leicester have won all four matches played in both the League Cup and Championship and will be confident of getting something from this clash of high-profile Championship sides.

Recent matches between these sides took place in the Premier League and typically delivered plenty of goals. Four of the last five matches between the Saints and Foxes saw BTTS, with three of the last four also seeing over 2.5 goals scored.

While Leicester have made the stronger start to the campaign, Southampton will be keen to bounce back from their hammering at Sunderland, and I expect both teams to be up for the live Friday night fixture.

Given past meetings and both teams' relatively good form, I´m backing BTTS for this Championship contest on Friday.

Southampton vs Leicester City Head to Head (H2H) stats

  • Competition: Germany - Bundesliga
  • Date: Friday, 15th, September 2023
  • Kickoff: 19:30 UTC +1 / 20.30 CEST
  • Venue: Allianz Arena (Munchen)

The spotlight of this weekend's action falls squarely on the Allianz Arena, where Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, the two teams with unblemished records after three rounds in the Bundesliga, prepare for an epic showdown.

Despite not hitting their top gear just yet, the Bavarian juggernauts have kicked off their Bundesliga title defense in splendid fashion. It's evident that Thomas Tuchel's side wasted no time dwelling on the bitter German Super Cup failure and the 0-3 defeat to RB Leipzig, as they've achieved a flawless record in the opening three rounds - (3-0-0). Following their dominant performances against Werder Bremen (4-0) and Augsburg (3-1), they eked out a 2-1 victory against Monchengladbach after a comeback, securing their first win at Borussia Park since March 2019.

If anyone is going to dethrone Bayern Munich from the German throne this season, it's looking like Bayer Leverkusen, who are relishing an exceptional start to the Bundesliga 2023-24 campaign. Xabi Alonso seems to have put all the pieces together, brought in the necessary reinforcements in the summer, and most importantly highlighted a serious bid for the title of German champion, the jewel that is still missing in their trophy cabinet. Thanks to a significantly better goal difference, Die Werkself are currently the Bundesliga leaders with the same number of points as the reigning champions.

Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen Betting Tips: BTTS

While Bayern confidently marches towards their 12th consecutive German championship title, it seems that Thomas Tuchel is still struggling to find the right formula to stabilize the Munich club's defense, leading to frequent lapses, conceding five goals in their opening four official matches. Furthermore, the Bavarians' defense will face an even more severe test when they host Leverkusen, a formidable offensive unit that has been scoring goals for fun in the new campaign, netting an astonishing 19 goals in just four competitive matches.

Undoubtedly, Die Werself have been showcasing the finest football in the Bundesliga at this moment – dismantling RB Leipzig (3-2), Menhengladbach (3-0), and newly-promoted side Darmstadt (5-1) – and the match against the reigning champions will offer the best insight into where the Leverkusen-based club currently stands.

Considering the wealth of offensive firepower in both camps, coupled with the fact that BTTS has been observed in 12 of the previous 14 encounters, we have every reason to anticipate a goal-laden spectacle on both fronts.

Former Aston Villa captain, Gabby Agbonlahor, has identified Rasmus Hojlund as the player that will help Manchester United to finish in the Premier League top four this season.

Agbaonlahor also described Hojlund, who joined Man United from Atalanta over the summer transfer window, as a quick, strong and aggressive player.

“You know why I would not rule them [Man United] out yet (of the top four) is because I really like the look of Hojlund,” Agbonlahor said (via talkSPORT).

“Even against Arsenal when he came on he caused them problems. He is quick, strong, and aggressive.

“I think this could be the game against Brighton who are quite open at the back where he gets a couple of goals.”

Hojlund was recently handed his Man United debut from the bench against Arsenal and immediately gave the Gunners problems with his pace and power.

The 20-year-old is likely to become the focal point of Man United manager Erik ten Hag’s attack.

Super Eagles Victor Boniface has been named the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for August.

The Bayer Leverkusen striker who joined the Bundles Liga side from Belgian Pro League side Union Saint-Gilloise has had a good start to life in Germany has scored two goals and provided one assist in the colors of Leverkusen.

The Nigerian forward beat RB Leipzig’s winger Xavi Simons and Freiburg goalkeeper, Noah Atubolu to the Award.

The striker is also in contention for the Bundesliga Player of the Month.

FIFA has nominated Lauren James for best women’s player 2023, despite her largely criticized foul against Super Falcons player, Michelle Alozie.

The 16-player list released by FIFA on Thursday included James who had stepped on Alozie in the knockout stage clash between Nigeria and England.

FIFA said, “A double winner with Chelsea, this exciting forward also emerged as a key player for her national team, providing three goals and as many assists in the Lionesses’ run to the Women’s World Cup final.”

In the 84th minute of the knock-out game against England, James picked up a yellow card for an impetuous stamp on Alozie’s back after both players tussled for the ball.

Referee Melissa Borjas after reviewing the video monitor withdrew the yellow card and showed off a red card.

Although England were down by a player, they held the Falcons to a draw and later won 4-2 on penalties.

FIFA reviewed the foul and handed her three-match ban.

She played in the finals based on FIFA judgement.

FIFA had said, “The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has imposed a two-match suspension on England’s player Lauren James following a violation of article 14 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code at the FIFA Women’s World Cup match England vs Nigeria.

“The suspension will be served for the FIFA Women’s World Cup quarter-final and the next international fixture following that.”

The FIFA decision had sparked reactions on social media.

In the group-stage match between Nigeria and Canada, Deborah Abiodun was sent off after she unintentionally tackled Ashley Lawrence and hit her shin.

But FIFA upgraded the 19-year-old’s ban from a one-match ban to a three-match ban.

However, FIFA rule says, “A player will be suspended for at least three matches for violent conduct; at least three matches or an appropriate period of time for assault, including elbowing, punching, kicking, biting, spitting, or hitting an opponent or a person other than a match official.”

Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles forward, has been nominated for FIFA’s The Best Men’s Player of the Year award after a stellar season for club and country. The 24-year-old was named in the 12-man shortlist for the award alongside other European stars.

Osimhen had a campaign to remember as he led Napoli to the Scudetto and emulated Zlatan Ibrahimovic in winning the Capocannoniere in the same season for the first time since 2009. The striker was also the first African Capocannoniere and became Africa’s leading scorer in Serie A.

In addition to his performance at club level, the former Lille man was on fire for the Super Eagles despite not making it to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He scored 10 goals for Nigeria as they sealed their ticket to the 2024 AFCON in style, including a hat-trick against Sao Tome and Principe last time out.

Osimhen is the only African who was deemed worthy of being included on the shortlist and is joined by Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Rodri, Julian Alvarez, Marcelo Brozovic, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Declan Rice and Bernardo Silva.

This comes after Osimhen was nominated for the 2023 Ballon d’Or, and is another feather in the cap of the striker, who aims even higher. Voting is on for the award, and fans can vote for Victor Osimhen through this link.

Corinthians will strive to put an end to their three-game winless streak across all competitions when they visit Fortaleza at Castelao in their Matchday 23 clash of the Brazilian Serie A on Friday.

After establishing a remarkable streak of five consecutive victories, dominating everything in their path in both the Copa Sudamericana and the Brazilian Serie A, Fortaleza hit a roadblock called Fluminense. Sadly, Leao do Pici entered their ten-day break due to international obligations on a sour note, suffering a 0-1 defeat to Fluzao with a late goal conceded in the 90+2 minute. Despite that setback, Fortaleza stands firm in eighth place with 32 points, trailing the Copa Libertadores qualification spots by only four points.

As for the guests, Corinthians seems to have put their nightmarish season start behind them, with the past few months showcasing evident signs of improvement. In their last fixture prior to the international break, Timao successfully resisted the onslaught from the reigning Brazilian champions, Palmeiras, securing a precious point in a goalless draw, 0-0. It was the third successive stalemate for the boys in black and white kits, continuing their climb up the table and now occupying 13th position with 26 points.

1. Fortaleza vs Corinthians Betting Tips: X2 (Double chance)

At first glance, it may seem like Fortaleza holds the upper hand in terms of form and the home advantage, but grabbing all the spoils against Corinthians is easier said than done. While Timao has been experiencing a drought in terms of victories (with only one win in their last six games), it's equally important to acknowledge that numerous opposing teams have been left scratching their heads in search of a way to overcome them, with just one defeat in their last 17 matches across all competitions.

It's intriguing how Vanderlei Luxemburgo's side has become experts in securing "X" results, recording their fourth draw in the last five matches, last time out against the reigning titleholders, Palmeiras. Furthermore, the teams that Fortaleza has recently triumphed over are a far cry from Corinthians' caliber.

Therefore, we maintain an optimistic outlook that Timao, with their sturdy style of football, will manage to secure at least a point from this visit.
