Afrobeats singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has claimed that his colleague, Davido’s marriage isn’t a good example to go by.

He stated this while responding to a fan who urged him to emulate the embattled singer and get married soon.

It’s worth noting that Davido is currently embroiled in a child custody battle with his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu.

The DMW boss had on Friday night called out his baby mama, Sophia, for citing the death of his son, Ifeanyi, who drowned in a swimming pool accident at his Lagos mansion, in her counter suit.

Following his outburst, his colleague, Dammy Krane mocked him, saying he now knows the pain his late friend, Tagbo’s mother felt when his son whom he accused Davido of contributing to his death, died.

Burna Boy waded in, asking Dammy Krane to pull down his posts on Davido but was ignored.

The Grammy-winning singer then wrote on his X page:

“Odogwu too wise’ who no hear go feel.”

Taking to the comment section, an X user with the handle, @BadLieutenant urged Burna Boy to emulate his colleague, Davido by getting married.

The user wrote:

“Burna Boy, you should start planning for your future by getting married and starting a family. OBO has already set an example. You’re over 33 now, and you need to understand that you’re not getting any younger.”

Burna Boy replied:

“Baba make I just dey as I dey abeg, u nor see wetin him dey face like dis?”

Another user @RealDreylo then wrote:

“You can’t even answer a question like a reasonable person. LOL. Just big head and plenty beards”

Burna Boy responded:

“Ok. But between me and you, Shey na betta example the guy use?”

President Bola Tinubu has initiated the Resettlement Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflict (RSPIC) to address the humanitarian crisis caused by internal displacement.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima represented Tinubu at the launch of the pilot phase in Tudun Biri, Kaduna, on Friday.

The president stated that the scheme targets communities affected by conflicts in Kaduna, Katsina, Benue, Niger, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi, providing long-term rehabilitation and reintegration for displaced victims.

“The conflict we are forced to endure has not only torn communities apart in the past but also political leaders who ought to be unifying models for the people,” he said.

“This history should inspire us to be different, and my optimism thrives on the assurance by our state governors to treat our humanitarian crises as points of unity instead of divisions.

“To those who have been displaced by conflict, I say this: We see you, we hear you, and we stand with you.

“Your strength and resilience inspire us all, and under President Tinubu’s leadership, we commit to bolstering our nation’s security infrastructure and advancing peace.

Sophia Momodu, Davido’s first baby mama, has dropped a jaw-dropping revelation, accusing the Afrobeats superstar’s sisters of plotting a daring abduction of their daughter, Imade, when she was just a three-month-old infant.

Davido and his former flame, Sophia Momodu, have become the hot topic of media frenzy as they clash in a high-stakes court battle over their daughter’s custody.

The Afrobeats sensation, not one to back down, took legal action through his heavyweight lawyers, Olaniyi Arije and Okey Barrah, filing a motion at the Lagos high court on April 17, 2024.

In a bold move, Davido is demanding a court order to secure “unfettered and unrestricted access” to their nine-year-old daughter, Imade.

Davido voiced his frustration, accusing Sophia of putting him through emotional turmoil with her “utopian” and unreasonable demands.

The singer also claimed that Sophia once blocked him from seeing their daughter, Imade, for a staggering “two years.”

Last month, the drama between Davido and Sophia Momodu took a dramatic twist as Sophia fired back against Davido’s lawsuit, vehemently denying ever blocking his access to their daughter, Imade.

In a jaw-dropping legal document dated June 26, Sophia didn’t hold back, accusing Davido of hatching a sinister plot with his sisters to “kidnap three-month-old Imade out of Nigeria”.

Sophia alleged that Davido’s sisters attempted to permanently whisk her daughter away under the guise of a harmless holiday.

She recounted the harrowing intervention by immigration services, who thwarted the alleged kidnapping scheme just in time.

Her narration partly reads:

“The applicant has demonstrated that he is not a fit father. He, in concert with his father and sisters, has tried on many occasions to kidnap our daughter and take her outside Nigeria and/or out of my reach without my consent.

“That at one time when our daughter was just three months old, she was kidnapped by his sister under the pretence that she was being taken on holiday by her whilst they were planning to take our daughter out of the country and out of my reach permanently.

“Due to the intervention of the Nigerian Immigration services, she was intercepted at the airport and apprehended for falsely representing herself as our daughter’s mother before they could leave the country, thus ensuring the safe return of our daughter to my custody.”

The Unavailable crooner was raised alongside three siblings: half-brother Adewale and sisters Sharon and Ashley Coco, and they all share a close bond to date.

Famous businessman, Mompha has launched a scathing attack on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), labeling them as “useless” and “Nigeria’s most corrupt organization.”

Mompha’s outburst comes in response to the EFCC’s recent report, which alleged that a staggering N35 billion was discovered in his bank account.

The report quoted a witness, Idi Musa, an investigator with the EFCC, testifying in court that the massive sum was found in two bank accounts linked to Mompha. The witness’s testimony was part of the ongoing trial of Mompha, who is facing money laundering charges alongside his company, Ismalob Global Investment Limited.

The EFCC had arraigned Mompha on an eight-count charge, including conspiracy to launder funds obtained through unlawful activity, retention of proceeds of criminal conduct, and failure to disclose assets and property, among others. Mompha’s trial has been ongoing since January 2022, with the recent testimony from the EFCC’s witness shedding new light on the case.

The report reads:

“The sixth prosecution witness, PW6, Idi Musa, in the trial of Ismaila Mustapha, (a.k.a Mompha) an investigator with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, July 1, 2024, told Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos how the sum of N35bn was fou in two bank accounts linked to the defendant.

The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had, on January 12, 2022, arraigned Mompha alongside his company, Ismalob Global Investment Limited, on an eight-coun charge bordering on conspiracy to launder funds obtained through unlawful activity, retention of proceeds of criminal conduct, laundering of funds obtained through unlawful activity, failure to disclose assets and property, possession of documents containing false pretenses and use of property derive from unlawful act.”

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has said that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike is the mentor of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

He insisted that Fubara would not have become governor without the backing of the minister.

Okocha described the Rivers governor as the political investment of Wike.

The APC chieftain stated this during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

Naija News reports that Fubara and Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, have been at loggerheads over the control of the oil-rich state.

Reacting to the situation, Okocha said, “The feud between the governor and his mentor, Governor Fubara is Wike’s political investment.

“From civil servant to the candidate of a party and delivering him in 23 local governments out of 23, the first in our history, all of these were Wike’s ability to manoeuvre. The former governor has said, ‘I am not asking you for anything. I am only saying that you are destroying the structure that produced you.’

“If you are a politician, no politician will allow his structure to be dismantled. When you do that, it means that you have no home to fall back to. That is the issue.”

Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), on Friday, gathered in Abuja to advance discussions on the launch of a single regional currency, the ECO.

This significant assembly underscores a collective ambition to drive economic growth and enhance integration across West Africa.

The meeting received a strong endorsement from Nigeria, the region’s largest economy.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Finance, Wale Edun, Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, highlighted the pivotal role the ECO is expected to play in fostering economic development within the community.

“Nigeria is fully committed to the ECO and its potential to improve economic growth and development in the region,” Edun stated.

The Abuja meeting focused on detailed preparations for the introduction of the ECO, marking a crucial step toward the realization of this ambitious currency integration project.

The discussions aimed to lay a robust groundwork to ensure a smooth transition to a single currency system among the fifteen member states of ECOWAS.

The envisioned single currency extends beyond the simplification of monetary transactions—it seeks to become a cornerstone of economic integration.

By streamlining trade and enhancing monetary stability, the ECO aims to transform the economic landscape of West Africa, making it easier for countries to engage in cross-border commerce and investment.

The gathering saw the participation of key economic leaders from the region, including Mr Olavo Correia, Minister of Finance of Cape Verde; Mr Adama Coulibaly, Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs of Cote d’Ivoire; and Mr Mohammed Amin Adam, Minister of Finance of Ghana.

These figures, among others, form a collaborative effort dedicated to shaping a prosperous economic future for West Africa.

According to the statement, “The meeting culminated in a renewed sense of purpose surrounding the ECO’s introduction. Participants emerged with a shared belief that the single currency holds immense potential to reshape the economic landscape of the region, paving the way for a more prosperous future for all member states”.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who is also the President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, has officially declared Sunday, July 7, 2024, as the commencement of the Islamic year 1446 after Hijrah.

This announcement marks a significant moment in the Islamic calendar, initiating celebrations and religious observances across the Muslim community in Nigeria.

The declaration was based on the lunar Islamic calendar, which relies on the sighting of the moon to determine the beginning of each month.

The Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs at the Sultanate Council in Sokoto, Sambo Junaidu, confirmed in a statement released on Friday that there had been no report of the moon being sighted by the national moon sighting committees.

Muharram is one of the four sacred months in the Islamic calendar and marks the beginning of the new Islamic lunar year.

He said, “The national and the various moon sighting committees across the country did not receive any report on the sighting of the new moon of Muharram on Friday, 5th July, 2024, which is the 29th of Dhul’Hijja 1445 AH, hence Saturday, 6th of July, is the 30th of Dhul’Hijja.”

The leader of the Southern and Middle-Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF), Edwin Clark has disclosed how he and others were able to secure the release of the leader of Niger Delta Volunteer Force, Muhajid Asari Dokubo during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Clark made the disclosure while calling for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Speaking during an interview with The Sun, he opined that Kanu should be released considering that other agitators with similar crimes were also set free.

The elder statesman explained that during Dokubo’s trial, he led a delegation to meet with Obasanjo, who subsequently advised them on the steps to be taken.

He said, “Asari Dokubo was being tried for the same offence. I gathered our leaders and led them to meet with President Obasanjo, who was in power at that time.

“So he said, E. K, this matter is in the court, I cannot interfere with the court. So we discussed it. He advised us on what to do. Our leaders went to court. We said we wanted bail first because the man had been there for too long. One of our leaders, Alabo Graham Douglas, he is dead now, provided his title deed. That’s how we were able to free Asari Dokubo. And since the President was aware of what we were doing, that was the end of the case. It was abandoned.”

Although Peter Obi had earlier disclosed details of his meeting with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Political Commission, nothing was said about his meeting with Joe Ajaero on Thursday.

Peter Obi visited the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, in line with his statement that he was committed to building the Labour Party and addressing concerns troubling members.

Obi, had in the early hours of Friday, said that there would soon be a meeting of all stakeholders of the Labour Party to address issues confronting factions.

“In the coming days, we will convene a more comprehensive stakeholders’ meeting, bringing together a broader representation of interests and perspectives.

“I am confident that through open communication, empathy, and a willingness to listen, we will successfully resolve our differences and emerge stronger and more united than ever. Our strength lies in greater unity for our common national good,” Obi said after his meeting with the NLC Political Commission.

He further stated that he had a meeting with the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, over plans on how to rebuild the party.

Naija News reports that Ajaero, on Friday, revealed that the former governor of Anambra State paid him a visit.

He said the meeting was strategic, adding that he and Peter Obi discussed a “wide range of issues” towards building a better Nigeria for all workers and citizens.

In a brief statement, Ajaero said, “Yesterday (Thursday), I had the honour of receiving his excellency, Mr. Peter Obi in my office.”

He added, “Wide-ranging issues were discussed towards building a better Nigeria for all workers and people.“
