Detailed Description

 

  • Non-profit New Incentives is looking to recruit Field Managers to expand its team dedicated to preventing child mortality in Jigawa, Katsina and Zamfara State, Nigeria.
  • The Field Managers will support New Incentives’ program that utilizes cash transfers to encourage mothers to complete the immunization schedule of their infants.
  • The program is operated in cooperation with the State Primary Healthcare Development Board in Jigawa/Katsina/Zamfara State. The primary duty in the role will be to supervise the work of our Field Volunteers at select public health facilities. However, you will also be enrolling beneficiaries yourself at public clinics to become an expert in our operations.
  • Field Managers will be hired full-time with a modest salary (lower than at major international NGOs).
  • Field Managers will work at clinics throughout Jigawa, Katsina and Zamfara State and must already be based / reside in one of the following towns:
    • Jigawa - (Birnin Kudu Town, Babura, Dutse, Gumel, Kazaure, Hadejia)
    • Katsina - (Daura, Dutsin-Ma, Funtua, Katsina, Malumfashi)
    • Zamfara - (Talata Mafara, Gusau, Kaura Namoda, Anka, Shinkafi, Gumi)

Context

  • Over the past years, Nigeria has considerably expanded the availability of vaccination services for infants. Despite this progress on the supply-side, demand for vaccinations remains relatively low.
  • New Incentives encourages mothers to fully vaccinate their infants with cash transfers and thereby ensures their babies are protected against deadly diseases.
  • The cash transfers allow the mothers to afford transport to the clinic and compensate them for lost income.

Key Duties

  • Conduct audits to prevent fraud and poor performance
  • Interact with stakeholders like superintendents and state officials
  • Assist the management with other duties related to the program
  • Please note that this is a hands-on job for a hard-working, dedicated young leader. This is NOT a leadership position where most of the work can be delegated.
  • Supervise field volunteers enrolling beneficiaries at remote public clinics
  • Control electronic beneficiary records and expenses of field volunteers and give feedback
  • Train staff on an ongoing basis to guarantee high quality operations
  • Please also note the adequate but modest salary (see below).

Required Qualifications

  • Fluency in local languages/dialects spoken in Jigawa/Katsina/Zamfara State, especially Hausa. Please state the names of the languages/dialects you can speak and your fluency level for each language in your cover letter.
  • Experience in collecting, synthesizing and drawing conclusions from (health) data desirable
  • Careful attention to financial matters and management of funds

  • Willingness to work at remote public clinics a few days per week and take public transport to reach them
  • Experience with the Nigerian health system and clinic documentation, particularly related to infant health and vaccinations

Purpose

  • The Digital Media Producer supports the project’s strategic engagement and communication goals in Nigeria.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop digital media assets, managing content and creative from pre- to post- production, including initiating, planning, writing, editing, producing, packaging, delivering, and archiving.
  • Manage and coordinate project communications, documentation, timelines, deadlines, permissions, logistics, reviews and revisions.

Description of Duties

Required Qualifications
Education:

  • Essential: University degree in public health and/or health-related fields from an accredited/recognized institute.
  • Desirable: Master's or Doctorate degree in public health. Post graduate studies or specialized training in emergency response or disaster management in the context of public health. Diploma in tropical medicine or diploma in disaster management

Experience:

  • Desirable: Relevant work experience in WHO, other UN agencies, health cluster partners, recognized humanitarian organizations or relevant nongovernmental or humanitarian organizations.
  • Experience in capacity building programme planning/development, project management, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience with resource mobilization in emergency settings.

Scope of Role
* The Project Officer will work closely with the Government counterparts at the LGAs, Senior SBCC Officer, Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor, State team Leader and Programme Manager.
Child Safeguarding:
* Level 3 - The responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with children or young people and, in the overseas context all posts are considered to be level 3 posts in view of potential situations which may allow staff unsupervised access to vulnerable children and young people.
Key Deliverables Include
Programme Implementation:
* Ensure quality implementation, thorough documentation and monitoring & evaluation of nutrition activities at agreed in the workplans.
* Ensure regular supervisory visits of the Government stakeholders (State, LGA) and Community Leaders to Project locations are conducted.
* Collaborate with relevant ministries and other relevant partners at the state, local government and community levels to ensure integration and high level implementation of all IYCF activities on the project.
* Ensure the mainstreaming of child safeguarding (safe programming) and fraud awareness in programme implementation.
* Identify other opportunities in an ongoing manner that will add value to the overarching strategy of the Project.
* Prepare the overall work plan (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual) and budget for programme activities for the implementing LGAs in collaboration with the Government counterparts.
* Provide regular supportive supervision of programme implementation.
Monitoring and Documentation:
* Maintain an updated comprehensive database with the Project indicators of the A&T Project.
* Support Project level Assessment as approved by the Donor.
* On periodic basis, develop case studies and success stories from Project-supported LGAs.
* Prepare quality monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports of implementation in the Model LGAs.
* With support from the Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor, provide regular evaluation of the progress of the activities and propose changes for improvement
Representation of the Project:
* Convey the overall purpose, activities, and achievements of the Project to external stakeholders in the Model LGAs.
* Ensure A&T representation and contribution in relevant meetings at the LGAs.
Additional Job Responsibilities:

Qualifications & Experience
Required Skills and Experience:
* First degree in Social Sciences or its equivalent
* Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
* Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
* A high level of written and spoken English and fluency in Hausa languages
* Familiarity with major donors reporting guidelines
* Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in Nutrition or Health programming activities for Donor-funded International Development projects
* Strong background in Public Health, Nutrition, Demography, Development Economics, Statistics, Project Management or any related fields
* Experience or familiarity with monitoring and evaluation methods and approaches
* Experience with training design, delivery and facilitation
* Ability to apply qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques
* Advanced computer and database management systems.
* Strong analytical skills
* Knowledge of documentation of success stories and case studies
* Experience designing and managing performance monitoring plans and impact studies

Job Decsription


* CAMRIS seeks a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist to provide direct performance monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) technical assistance to Nigeria-based grantees implementing an anti-corruption/transparency program focused on the education and energy sectors, as well as implementation of the Criminal Justice Act.
* The consultant will work from their home, but will be required to participate in capacity building events and conduct in-person meetings on a regular basis with grantees in and nearby Abuja.
* This position will work under the supervision of the Lagos-based field team lead and the guidance of the US-based team lead. Shortlisted consultants will be required to provide relevant work samples and references.
* The consultancy will be approximately sixty days over the next year, with the potential for a similar level of effort in years following.


Job Responsibilities


* Ensure consistency of data collection/storage procedures among grantees who are reporting to cross cutting/portfolio level indicators. Assist with data aggregation as required.
* Ensure that grantee MEL activities are positioned to support a planned external evaluation of the portfolio.
* Support the facilitation of multi-day MEL capacity building workshops in Abuja.
* Provide direct MEL technical assistance and support to Nigeria-based grantees (mostly in Abuja) including: developing theories of change, developing and refining indicators to measure progress at the output and outcome levels, developing and piloting data collection tools, data storage and analysis processes, and using data to report progress and learn.
* Support the design and manage the implementation of MEL organizational capacity assessments with grantees, and tailored technical assistance activities that are informed by assessment findings.
* Ensure that grantee MEL strategies align with research good practice with respect to monitoring anti-corruption and transparency interventions.
Candidate Qualifications
* Must have a computer with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, and be proficient in Microsoft Office software.
* Must be able to maintain discretion and adhere to security and nondisclosure protocols.
* Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Workshop facilitation experience highly desired.
* At least seven years of experience in MEL, three of which must be in Nigeria.
* At least five years of experience providing MEL technical assistance, capacity building and training to grantee/implementing partners to develop MEL plans. Deep expertise in developing meaningful MEL plans that do not overburden grantee resources required.
* Advanced university degree or JD in political science, law, political economy, government, international development or affairs, democracy and governance, economics, conflict resolution or a similar field.
* Subject matter expertise regarding democracy and governance issues in Nigeria. Knowledge of retail level anti-corruption efforts in Nigeria’s education and electricity sectors and/or implementation of Criminal Justice Act is highly preferred.
* English fluency is required and Hausa and/or Yoruba is preferred.
