The Spanish international arrived from the Bernabeu in a £58m deal during the summer, but less than four months later he is considering going back.

He’s made a stunning start to life in the Premier League, scoring seven goals so far, and in an interview with Spanish radio station Cadena Sar, the 25-year-old opened up about his future.

"Of course I would return to Real Madrid, but it's complicated," he said.

"I told the coach I wanted to play more. That I wanted to go is foolishness. I felt important for Madrid, but I wanted to play in the Champions League knockout stages.

"I've never said a bad word of Madrid nor will I say it. Always I wish them the best.

“I'm a fan of Madrid but a Chelsea player."

The 25-year-old has already had two spells in Madrid, with the club activating a buy-back clause a year after selling him to Juventus.

He won two Champions League titles while at Real and scored 20 goals in his final season for them.

With the help of Morata’s goals this season, Chelsea are currently fourth in the league, eight points behind leaders Manchester City.

They return to action next weekend with a trip to West Brom.
